Dillons employee recalls sheltering from Greensburg tornado in meat cooler

An employee at the Dillons grocery store in Greensburg remembers the moment 10 year ago when the EF5 tornado tore through the store.

Looking back to that Friday night on May 4, 2007, Chris Unruh says he noticed the skies were quickly darkening. That's when he told his co-workers they needed to take shelter.

Minutes later, the tornado hit, destroying everything but the meat cooler that doubled as the employees' shelter.

"I didn't know if were going to die or what because I've never been through anything like that," Unruh says. "Well, we prayed and prayed and the Lord kept us safe."

Since the tornado a new Dillons was built. Unruh, who still works for Dillons, says he still misses the old store.
