WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Factfinder 12 warns you not to fall for a new scam being reported in northeast Wichita.
A man is approaching people asking for money because he says a local charity can't help him and his sick child.
The man approaches people at gas stations or in parking lots.
He will say he needs the money for a hotel room for his sick daughter because he claims all the Ronald McDonald houses are full.
Don't fall for it, that's false, the executive director of the program's Wichita branch says they've been getting calls about this for weeks.
"I don't know if anyone has given him money, but we've gotten a lot of phone calls to see if it was a scam or to see if it's real. It's totally a scam," says Susan Smythe.
The group says the man involved in this scam was spotted along 21st street between rock and Greenwich.
