Fire damages home, car in S. Wichita

Fire crews spent Tuesday morning on the scene of a house fire in south Wichita.

Crews were called to the home near Pawnee and George Washington Boulevard at around 5:00 a.m..

Fire officials tell us no one was inside when they arrived at the scene and no one was hurt.

Batallion Chief Sid Newby tells us the fire started with a car in a carport. They aren't sure how the car caught fire, but it spread into the side of a duplex, causing damage to a bedroom and the attic.

The other unit of the duplex was not damaged.
