GVL Poly laying off workers from Hesston plant

HESSTON, Kan. The GVL Poly factory in Hesston "will experience a significant reduction in employment levels," the company announced Tuesday.

GVL Poly, which manufactures plastic products, says the change is due to "a major customer decision to consolidate (its) supply chain."

GVL Poly's CEO says the company employs about 100 people at its Hesston plant and the lay offs impact less than 50 employees.

The company says the change will no impact its Litchfield, Minn. operation.

"Since opening in May of 2014, GVL Poly has successfully started manufacturing relationships with several Kansas companies to provide product(s)," the company says. "We look forward to continuing to grow these relationships to fill the production capacity at the Hesston Plant."
