Garden City Public Schools launches school bus tracking app

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KWCH) Garden City Public Schools has launched a new app for parents to track their children's school bus.

Students at Garden City High School, Kenneth Henderson Middle School, Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center, and Plymell Elementary School, now have cards they can swipe as they get on and off the school bus.

The Garden City Public Schools ‘My Bus Stop' is an app that gives families real-time access to school bus route information.

Charles Stillian oversees more than 40 schools buses for Garden City Public Schools. He assures all parents, safety is their number one priority.

"Sometimes we have students that get off the bus at a stop that's not theirs. Now, we can look at and see. When they call and say my student never got home, we can tell them yes, they were on the bus and they did scan off but they scanned off three or four blocks away from your home," said Stillian.

The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the Apple Store (for iOS). Search for "VersaTrans My Stop" and select Garden City Schools when prompted. Parents will need to contact their child’s school for username and password information.
