2 arrested after woman reports spotting stolen car in NE Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. Update: A public information officer for the Wichita Police Department tells us two people are arrested after a woman reports spotting her stolen car in the 1000 block of North Pershing (near 13th and Oliver).

Police say officers responded to the scene Wednesday afternoon where they made contact with two people near the car that matched the description of one that had been taken in a previous carjacking.

Police say the two people, identified as suspects in this case, were arrested. One suspect was immediately arrested and the other ran from the scene, but was soon caught by police, the public information officer says.

Police say assistance from SWAT was initially requested, but was not needed.


Several officers are responding to a scene outside a home in a northeast Wichita neighborhood.

Sedgwick County dispatch tells us the heavy police presence in the 900 block of N. Pershing (near 13th and Oliver) is in response to a stolen vehicle, but could not provide further information.
