Heavy rain moves through south central Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) While Storm Team 12 issued a Weather Alert Day for Friday, the severe weather threat diminished from a moderate to slight risk for much of the state.

Around 11 a.m., heavy rains moved through Wichita bringing with it some flooding and pea to marble-size hail.

Viewers sent in photos of the streets that had flooded around the city.

Nearly 3,000 people also lost power. Westar Energy says it expects the power to be restored around 1:30 p.m.

Another round of storms is expected this evening, but they are not expected to be severe.
