PRATT COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) People driving through Pratt County had to slow down Friday afternoon as heavy smoke blew across US 54/400 near the town of Cullison.
That's where crews fought to contain a cotton gin fire.
Kent Goyen with the company that owns the cotton gin says it's unknown how the fire started, but he does know it started Friday morning.
Throughout the day, several crews responded, bringing water trucks to contain any flare ups.
Goyen says this is not the first time part of the cotton gin has caught fire and this time, the damage is minimal.
