WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) When a child is taken from their home by law enforcement, sometimes they don't get to take anything with them.
Thanks to an anonymous woman, deputies in Butler County have blankets to carry in their cars for kids.
It's a story that is making us Kansas Proud.
Sheriff Kelly Herzet said he was approached a couple of months ago by a woman who wanted to make blankets for the kids.
Last week, he picked up 40 blankets for his deputies to hand out.
"Good security blanket for a child, what a better way to comfort them than a blanket with different patterns and colors. Sometimes a stuffed animal is okay. A blanket will be another advantage to helping a child," says Sheriff Herzet.
The kids will get to keep the blanket long after the call is over.
