Kansas father pleads guilty to murder, child abuse in infant's death

GREENWOOD COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) A Greenwood County father pleaded guilty to murder and child abuse on Thursday.

The Kansas Attorney General says Benny William Clark, 23, of Reece, pleaded guilty to one count of murder in the second degree and one count of abuse of a child.

The crimes occurred in August 2017. The victim was Clark's six-month-old son, Cooper.

Cooper's mother left Cooper with Clark in August while she went to work. When she returned home, the baby was gasping for air.

Both parents took him to the infant to the local emergency room. He was then flown to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. He died two days later.

Clark's sentencing is scheduled for July 5 at 10 a.m.
