Man charged with first-degree murder in Wichita woman's death

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A man accused in the death of his girlfriend is now charged with first-degree murder.

Travis Becker is charged in the death of 42-year-old Perla Rodriguez.

Monday night, Andover police found some of Rodriguez's property and alerted Wichita police.

Tuesday morning, officers went to return the belongings and found Rodriguez dead inside her west Wichita home. Investigators say she died from blunt force trauma.

A few hours later the Olathe police department contacted Wichita police after they found Becker with Rodriguez's car and more of her belongings. They say Becker was Rodriguez's live-in boyfriend.

Becker is being held in the Sedgwick County jail on a $250,000 bond.

He's set to appear back in court on Nov. 30.
