Wichita Public Schools picks new deputy superintendent

WICHITA, Kan. A familiar face in the Wichita school district is selected to move up the ranks as Deputy Superintendent.

Dr. Tiffinie Irving, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services, will step up to Deputy Superintendent of Wichita Public Schools, effective Jan. 2.

The district says as deputy superintendent, Irving will oversee elementary and secondary schools, special education, ESOL, early childhood, career and technical education and "all other aspects of instruction."

Tuesday, first-year USD 259 Superintendent Dr. Alicia Thompson sent a message to staff members in the district, expressing support for Irving.

"Her career in our district as a teacher, principal, central office administrator and assistant superintendent has prepared her well to lead the academic work across our district," Thompson says.
