Salina cleaning up after Thursday's storms

SALINA, Kan. (KWCH) The Salina Speedway took a direct hit from a tornado Thursday night. That storm ripped the roof off the press box and snapped light poles around the track.

No one was hurt, but the owner tells us it could be a couple of weeks before they're back to racing at the track.

Sharon Holcomb lives in Saline County. She thanks the trees in her yard for taking the brunt of the storm.

"We could hear the rain pounding and the wind blowing but never knew what was going on out here," she says.

Holcomb says her peaceful backyard is now a broken mess.

"It is very devastating because the trees are so beautiful and they are just gone in one day," she continues.

Holcomb says her family will help her clean up a mess that could have been worse.

"I feel fortunate after seeing other people's damage, but this is pretty rough," she says. "I'll get it cleaned up. It could have been worse. It could have been the house."
