CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) A New Jersey man walked into a Cherry Hills Toys "R" Us and paid off more than 60 people's orders on Christmas toys.

The man, who goes by Charlie K, walked into the store Friday morning and told a reporter he was going to pay off all layaway orders.

"Just you trying to bring some happiness to people," said Charlie K. "That's really it. Help bring back to the community that brought so much happiness to me and my family."

The man announced his plans during a live report for the area's CBS affiliate.

Charlie paid for roughly 62 orders, spending $10,780.

But his good deed doesn’t end there, he also had everyone in the store choose three items for him to purchase and give to Toys for Tots.

“The Marines and Toys for Tots are one of the best organizations, and I don’t want to forget them,” he said.

Charlie K says he tries to give back to his community often but this is the first time he has done anything like this.

Many like Stephanie Dawson heard about Charlie’s act of kindness and rush to the store to find she’s among the lucky recipients.

For her, the gift represents seven presents for the grandchildren worth $200.

“I want to say thank you very much and I appreciate it and thank god for you,” she said.

Others like Jessica Jey have no idea.

She showed up today planning to pay full price for a big box of toys set aside for the kids.

“They come over and tell me someone actually paid the layaway,” Jey tells CBS3. “It’s definitely an early Christmas and I want to say thank you to the gentleman that came in and donated it’s like the best feeling thank you.”
