Southeast Kansas town under water emergency

CANEY, Kan. (KWCH) The Caney Police Department posted on the department's Facebook page that the town of Caney is under a water emergency due to a critical failure of the raw water pumps.

According to the post, residents in the area are advised to conserve and restrict water usage as much as possible.

Neighbors in the town are not allowed to use it for outside watering, washing vehicles, or washing other items until the declaration has been removed.

The city called in outside technical assistance to help resolve the issue with the equipment.

The current water pressure in the system at 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning was 21.1 psi. If the psi falls below 20.0, a water advisory will be considered.
