Suspect shot by police after firing into crowd in Westport

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) An officer shot a suspect who was shooting into a crowd of people in Westport early on Sunday morning.

Police said that around 2:40 a.m., officers were patrolling in the area of 40th and Pennsylvania when they saw the man shooting.

One of the officers engaged the suspect and fired his gun.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The suspect’s gun was subsequently found at the scene.

Jackson County deputies in the Westport area stopped a fleeing vehicle just after the shooting.

Those deputies found two men in the vehicle who had been shot.

Police believe that both men were shot by the suspect that police shot just before then.

Those two victims were taken to local hospitals and their conditions are listed as stable.
