NCAA tournament in Wichita: What you need to know

The Jayhawks will be the headliner among eight teams coming to Wichita this week for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament at Intrust Bank Arena.

Before the games begin, you can catch all eight teams in open practices Wednesday at the arena.

KU, the Midwest Region's No. 1 seed tips off against No. 16 seed Penn at 12:50 p.m. Thursday. If you want to see what the Quakers are made of ahead of the big game, you can watch them in an open practice at 11 a.m. Wednesday.


If you want to wish the Jayhawks luck in the Big Dance, you can catch their open practice at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Assuming KU takes care of business in the first round, their second-round game will be against either North Carolina State or Seton Hall. You can watch NC State practice at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday and Seton Hall at 1:15 p.m.

The West Region also has games at Intrust Bank Arena. In that region, No. 6 seed Houston and No. 11 seed San Diego State tip off at 6:20 p.m. Thursday.

Houston practices at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, with San Diego State taking the court at 4:55 p.m.

Big 10 Tournament champion Michigan and No. 14 seed Montana will play in Thursday's nightcap after the Cougars and Aztecs.

Michigan's open practice at IBA is set for 4:10 p.m. Wednesday. Montana wraps up the practice day at 5:40 p.m.
