WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) For the first time in school history, the Wichita State volleyball team will host the NCAA First and Second Rounds.
Right now, WSU is ranked No. 16 overall seed and is seeded for the first time in school history. The winner of the Wichita bracket will face the winner of the State College, Pa. bracket.
The Shockers will face Radford in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament in Wichita, Kan., on Fri., Dec. 1.
The No. 20 Shockers (28-3) will be making their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance overall and will face the Highlanders (25-4) at 8 p.m. on Friday.
Kansas (22-7) will face Missouri (20-11) at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The winners of the two matches will face off at 7 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 2.
All matches will play inside Charles Koch Arena.
The Shockers won the 2017 American Athletic Conference regular-season to earn the automatic bid. It is their 11th appearance overall with appearances in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
WSU is 7-10 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and 6-4 in the first round. It will be the first meeting between the Shockers and Highlanders.
WSU played seven games against teams that made the 2017 NCAA Tournament. The Shockers went 4-3 in those games against ETSU (1-0), Marquette (1-0), Miami (Ohio) (1-0), Oregon (0-1), Cal Poly (0-1), Creighton (1-0) and Iowa State (0-1).
