WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) The Wichita Ice Center says it should soon have ice again.
The center says the City Wichita agreed to do a temporary chiller which will allow NHL ice to be installed.
The center says it's not sure when the rink will be ready. It says once installed, it could take a week to make the ice.
Almost two weeks ago, the center had to cancel classes and a figure skating championship after an ammonia leak and a broken pipe in the chiller. Owners said no one could even look into the problem until Aug. 13.
They say even with the temporary fix, they'll have to be creative with scheduling.
"We will do our best to ensure all our user groups will have the opportunity to skate, figure skate and play hockey," reads a post on the center's Facebook page.
The center is offering some off-ice classes. For more information call 316-337-9199.
