Woman jumps from bridge, officers dive into river to save her

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Wichita police saved a woman from drowning Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 400 block of W. Central around 3:30 p.m.

A man who said his girlfriend was harming herself with a knife and threatening to jump off a bridge.

Officers arrived to see the 20-year-old jump into the river from the Murdock and Waco bridge.

They noticed she couldn’t keep her head above water and jumped in to pull her out.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The officers were not hurt.
