Perry Ellis, a Wichita Heights alum and recent grad of Kansas University, will be joining the NBA's Summer league as a member of the Dallas Mavericks.
Saturday afternoon, Ellis tweeted the following:
"@PElliz: Excited to play with the @dallasmavs for summer league ! Thanks for the opportunity !"
Ellis might not have had his name called in the NBA draft on Thursday night, but from July 8-18 he'll be playing with those who did, showing his skills and looking to nab a contract in the pros.
Dallas only had one selection in the draft (Purdue C A.J. Hammons). After seeing offers from Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Indiana, and Atlanta, Ellis decided to go with the best fit for him as a player, citing that Mavs coach Rick Carlisle is an Ellis believer.
Just like the fans back in Wichita and all across Kansas.
