Former Railer earns Big 12 honors

(KSU) For the first time in program history and its brief stint as a soccer playing member of the Big 12 Conference, Kansas State has garnered a league weekly honor as Brookelynn Entz earned Big 12 Freshman of the Week.

Entz finished the weekend with a combined five points, scoring two goals and adding an assist. She became the first player in school history with two goals in a match, carding a pair in K-State’s 3-1 win over Central Arkansas on Friday, Sept. 8.

The two goals were the first of her K-State career. Her first tally came in the 19th minute from 14 yards out, while her second was a rebound chance for an insurance goal in the 69th minute. Her four points against Central Arkansas were the most by a Wildcat in a single match in program history.

Against Creighton, Entz had the primary assist on K-State’s second goal of the afternoon giving the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute. It was Entz’s first career assist.

For the season, the midfielder from Newton, Kansas, is tied for the team lead in goals (two) and points (five) and leads the team in total shots (22) and shots on goal (11). She is tied for third in the Big 12 in total shots. Her five total points ranks fourth in school history for career points.
