Jayhawks not "wanting it" as much as opponents

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KWCH) -- KU's 85-73 home loss to Texas Tech on Tuesday was the largest-deficit defeat at Allen Fieldhouse in the 15-year Bill Self era.

The Kansas Jayhawks played the Michigan State Spartans at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 during the second round of the 2017 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Jayhawks defeated the Spartans 90 - 70 and move on to the Sweet Sixteen in Kansas City.

Following the loss, the players and Self all had the same message: this team isn't tough enough.

"We've just got to get more focused and get way tougher," said senior point guard Devonte Graham.

Coach Self felt personally responsible for his team's lack of effort.

"I think it's ridiculous that kids can say we've got to want it more. I think that's ridiculous. But what's sad is, it's true," he said.

Kansas travels to No. 16 TCU on Saturday night. Tipoff is 8:15 on ESPN2.
