WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- Nico Hernandez is 2-0 in his professional fighting career, all in front of his hometown of Wichita.
He is scheduled to fight his third bout Saturday September 23rd at Hartman Arena.
Wednesday night, he prepared for that fight at his home gym, the Hernandez Boxing Academy in Wichita. It is the same gym that burned down last year in November.
He invited fans to watch him train, free of charge.
Hernandez said his hometown fans give him motivation to remain undefeated.
"It's exciting with the little kids out here taking pictures with me and I can be a positive role model for them when they get older," he said.
His father, Lewis, is also his head coach and trainer. He said he does everything for his fans.
"It's a little bit of what's to come when he sees these people out here," he said. "He gets excited because he loves these people and these people love him. That's a good thing, that's a plus."
