Cotton Wood Point recently began offering a new, free class for their residents- senior yoga. Senior yoga is an adaptation of yoga that residents can perform in their chairs, using the resistance of their own bodies. The yoga class is open to all residents, and is held every Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
Chair yoga concentrates on breathing, stretching and relaxing. Yoga breathing is said to help people with anxiety and insomnia, making it a good addition for Cotton Wood Point residents. Soft music is played throughout the class to help relax participants.
The Cotton Wood Point yoga instructor makes the class interactive and fun. She explains each stretch and exercise, and is happy to answer any questions participants have. If a participant has an injury or is unable to complete a specific stretch, the instructor can tailor the workout for that participant.
