The Salvation Army: Doing the Most Good
The Wichita Metro Area Salvation Army brings a helping hand to Sedgwick County with its Mission of Hope programs. This year, The Mission of Hope is focusing on three major components: Volunteers, Online Red Kettles and Season Passes.
The Salvation Army is always looking for volunteers, but the need is especially high during the holiday season. If you have extra time this holiday season, even if it's just an hour or a day, consider volunteering. The Salvation Army is currently looking for people in the Wichita area to volunteer for the following positions: Angel Tree Application Taker, Winter Coat Distribution, Angel Tree Toy Distribution, East Side Kettles, Final Prep for Toy Distribution and West Side Kettles.
2. ONLINE RED KETTLES
Now you can help the Salvation Army by accepting donations in your own red kettle. Sign up to start your own online red kettle, and then invite family and friends to donate through email and social media. The donations you raise in your Online Red Kettle will help feed hungry families, provide presents for needy children, heat the homes of struggling senior citizens, and bless millions in need.
3. SEASON PASSES
Wichita is one of the first locations to have Season Passes. With a Season Pass, you make a one time donation of $20, $50 or $100, instead of donating spare change every time you walk past a red kettle. With your Season Pass, you get a button to show your support of the Salvation Army. Wear it when you're Christmas shopping, and the bell ringers will have the opportunity to thank you for your donation. All the money donated for Season Passes stays in the Wichita area, to help the Wichita Metro Area Salvation Army feed the hungry and provide emergency basic needs assistance throughout the year.
