Want a chance to help unfortunate kids pay for music lessons, and also catch some classics from Prince and Michael Jackson? School of Rock Wichita is holding two different events in the next few months that will give you those opportunities.
On August 10 at 7:00 p.m., School of Rock will be holding a fundraising event as they open for the Dallas Fort Worth All Stars at Rock Island Live in Old Town. Tickets are $5 at the door, and all ticket proceeds go to the non-profit organization Rockschoolfund.org, which provides funds for underprivileged students to receive music lessons.
“I’m really excited about doing our first event with Rockschoolfund.org,” said Jason Ramsey, the School of Rock Wichita general manager and co-owner. “We hope to be doing that once a season now as we continue to move forward.”
The second event is their seasonal event, which will be a double show on Sept. 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater. The Arena Rock Show will be first, featuring music of Styx, Boston, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Kansas and more. The second show will be Prince vs. Michael Jackson, which will include 24 songs, half and half from each artist. Tickets are $10.00 and are available at selectaseat.com.
“The September shows we are super excited about,” Ramsey said. “Hopefully with two shows we can get even more people there, especially with the diverse music.”
