A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Thursday night in Newton. According to the Harvey County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 10:45 in the 9300 block of South Kansas.
Investigators said a 53-year-old man was walking northbound on the inside lane of South Kansas when he was hit. Police say the driver swerved, but hit him with the passenger side of the car.
The names of the driver and pedestrian are being withheld until the next of kin have been notified.
