The online dating website Match.com has conducted its second annual survey of 5,000 U.S. singles to find out just what makes them tick — and click with others.
When it comes to marriage, 93 percent of the respondents said they are more interested in finding someone they can trust and confide in than a potential spouse.
Seems that singles these days think it’s more important for the president to be faithful than their partner. Where 62 percent of men and 80 percent of women cited fidelity as a “must have” in a relationship, nine out of 10 said there were “no acceptable excuses” for a political candidate to cheat on their partner.
Political views impact sex as well — 40 percent of conservative Republicans report they are “very satisfied with sex while they’re married.” One caveat should be noted, however — they also said they experienced the least amount of sex in the last 12 months. Conservatives are also more conventional when seeking a partner and look for someone who belongs to the same political party, has a similar background, and is looking to get hitched where liberal Democrats seek out those with a sense of humor, independent nature and similar lifestyle.
When it comes to affection, men are more comfortable with public displays of affection and believe in love at first sight more than women. The survey also said that men are more willing to enter into a committed relationship without feeling in love or being sexually attracted to their partner and are more likely to cohabitate with someone they have been dating less than a year.
It seems the ladies are not alone when it comes to fretting about their weight — more men reported being concerned about their weight rather than their height.
Financial stress knows no gender division, but the economy isn’t affecting people’s dating habits and if someone likes you enough, they’re willing to overlook the fact that you’re unemployed.
No matter if you’re straight or gay — all singles claim to seek the same qualities in partners when it comes to education, career, physical attractiveness, humor and confidence.
Don’t despair if you're feeling like age is getting in the way of dating — singles over the age of 60 seek sexual attraction and romance and are more likely than any other age group to achieve orgasm — reporting that they experience an orgasm 91-100 percent of the time.
