Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies are forecast for the area today as a chilly Friday unfolds.  Light snow and rain will gradually wind down in the northern part of the state.  Highs are expected to reach the 40s and 50s.

Tonight, the clouds will thicken up with more light rain mixed with snow in the far west.  Any accumulation of snow should be an inch or less on grassy areas in the NW and far west.  A Freeze Watch is out for southwest Kansas Saturday morning.

A cold Saturday is on the way with highs in the 40s and 50s again.  A hard freeze is expected for parts of Kansas Saturday night into Sunday morning.  A number of counties in Kansas are covered by a Freeze Watch.  Lows will drop to the middle and upper 20s to lower 30s.  If you have some potted plants outdoors, you'll want to bring them in.  You'll need to drain garden hoses and disconnect them from outdoor faucets.

Temperatures will rebound gradually for much of next week.
