A tanker truck hits a guard rail, over corrects, drives off the road and through a tree line before it came to a stop.

Our news partners at KFDI tell us that's when the truck caught fire and exploded about ten-minutes later.

"It was totally on fire and there was nothing I could do." says Master Trooper Joel Powers, "I was going to see if I could help someone but it was too late. It was totally engulfed.

Kansas Turnpike Authority tells us two people died. Right now we don't know their names.

Troopers shut down the north bound lanes of I-35 near Belle Plaine service area to clean up the crash.
