WICHITA, Kan—
61-years after his death a Kansas priest is one step closer to receiving a medal of honor.
The "Kansas Congressional Delegation", says Father Emil Kapaun deserves a Medal of Honor for his heroism during the Korean War. Kapaun was serving as an army chaplain when he died in a "Korean prison camp" in 1951.
If the Defense Secretary makes a recommendation to President Barack Obama it would be one of the last steps in the process.
Kapaun has also been classified as a "Servant of God" by the Vatican, which is one of the first steps to becoming a saint.
