(RENO COUNTY, Kan.)—
A 76-year-old Haven woman has died after a crash in Reno County Thursday afternoon. The Reno County Sheriff's Department says a deputy was patrolling near Yoder Road and Pleasant Valley Road at around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. The deputy came across a minivan that was headed south when it left the roadway, went into a ditch and struck a culvert and barbed wire fence.
Two people were in the van. The driver, Jacqueline Spencer, was rushed to Hutchinson Regional Hospital in critical condition, but died of her injuries. Her husband, 77-year-old Marshall Spencer, was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say neither was wearing a seat belt.
There's no word on what caused the van to leave the road in the first place.
