Wichita Police found a new born baby girl dead in a dumpster. They found her body Wednesday night in a dumpster at the Eastgate Shopping Mall in the 8100 block of east Kellogg.
Police say they were given information that a 17-year-old female was admitted to the hospital with significant hemorrhaging. They say it was discovered that the girl delivered a baby the previous week. Police say the baby taken to dumpster and left behind.
Police say the teen is cooperating with the investigation. She's still in the hospital. Police are waiting for autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
Kansas does have a safe haven law. It allows you to leave you baby, up to 45 days old, with an employee at any medical facility, fire department, city or county health department in Kansas.
