The Jeep belonging to the good samaritan who tired to help a woman stuck in the snow has been recovered. Police pulled it out of the Arkansas River Friday afternoon. It was found partially submerged at 19th and Arkansas.
The vehicle was stolen from a 27-year-old man. He stopped late Wednesday night near 23rd and Arkansas to help a woman who appeared to be stuck in the snow.
When he got out to help, another woman came out of nowhere and jumped into the man's car and drove off. Then, the woman he stopped to help pushed him to the ground and sped off in her car which wasn't stuck after all.
What happened didn't sit well with Wichitans living in the area.
"I think it's really messed up," Sarah Streeter says.
People in the neighborhood say they can't believe it."It's something that isn't supposed to happen," Dale Bird says.
"I don't know what kind of people can do that," Huan Barrera says. "It's just weird."
"About the time you get some weather like this and you feel like you're doing a good deed for somebody, unfortunately you have just as good a chance in some instances of getting taken advantage of," Brad Streeter says.
