Maybe you like the big crowds and long lines, but the better deals may be found online this year. “I would always check the on-line price before you go to the store,” says Ashlea Konecny, who started the Deal Detecting Diva website.
Her obsession started with her first child. “I got tired of paying for diapers,” says Konecny.
She has advice for Black Friday shoppers.

- Use promo codes when buying online
- Start comparing ads now
- Take advantage of stores that price match
- Toys are usually cheaper 2 weeks before Christmas
- Electronics are usually cheapest on Black Friday
“You can do most of your shopping this year online and some of the deals in the stores will be cheaper online.” Konecny says if you don't buy online, that's where you should start this year.
“The number one thing is to get on line now and start comparing those ads now. Don't wait...it will be too late.”
She says many stores will price match ads that you find. And if you buy online, Konecny says make sure you take advantage of promo codes. “They can save you a lot.”
Konecny still likes going to the stores on Friday, armed with paper coupons.
“Tomorrow when the ads come out I sit down and circle what I know I want to buy. I take the ads with me.”
And if you are a Black Friday shopper remember that some things aren't such a great deal. “Toys are cheaper the two weeks before Christmas than they are on Black Friday.”
Konecny says you’ll find the best deals on electronics on Friday.
