The local chapter of the NAACP wants the deadline on a final school boundary decision delayed. Parents, students, and community members joined the NAACP at Mueller Elementary Tuesday. The school is one of four elementary schools that may close. The group wants the school board to postpone any decision on boundaries and closings until the district has had more time to study the issue.
"Do we have all of the right solutions? No. But we would like to sit down at the table and put forth some solutions,” LaVonta Williams, NAACP, said.
The group didn't offer any specific suggestions. And, it didn't say how long of a delay it wants.
The school board is expected to make its decision on school boundaries and closures, February 27th.
