An iconic kid staple found in pantries across America is under fire over health concerns.

Mom bloggers Vani Hari and Lisa Leake launched a petition earlier this week calling for Kraft Foods to remove artificial dyes that give Macaroni and Cheese its distinctive cheesy-orange look. They claim Yellow #5 and Yellow #6 pose potential dangers to consumers.

The dyes have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, but the ingredients have been banned in some European countries due to stricter safety rules. Some studies have linked those particular dyes to cancer. Other studies have found the chemicals lead to hyperactivity in children, allergies and headaches.

The women women launched the petition on Change.org Tuesday. It has more than 175,000 signatures.

A Kraft spokeswoman told USA Today "The safety and quality of our products is our highest priority and we take consumer concerns very seriously. We carefully follow the laws and regulations in the countries where our products are sold. So in the U.S., we only use colors that are approved and deemed safe for food use by the Food and Drug Administration."
