A calming voice on the Wichita airways has been silenced.
Dan Dillon, KFDI Radio, signed-off as news director and severe weather spotter for the last time Friday morning. He is taking a new job after spending 34 years behind the mic.
"I'm sad I won't be working in this building anymore," Dillon said. "But it's just time to turn the page and try something new."
Dillon said he will also miss his co-workers.
"He is a true professional and true gentleman," said George Lawson, co-worker. "He has just been amazing to work for and work with. I've learned a lot from him about radio news."
Dillon will start his new job as media coordinator for the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office on Monday.
The City of Wichita proclaimed his last day on the air as Dan Dillon day.
