Garden City Police have arrested a man accused of mistreating his mother, months after finding the woman dead inside a filthy home.
Police responded to a call of a woman not breathing at an apartment complex last September. They found Odelia Hernandez, 64, dead inside her bedroom. Investigators said living conditions inside the home were in horrible condition due to trash and human waste.
The woman was found emaciated and had not been taken care of for some time, police said.
Officers arrested the woman's son, Estevan Hernandez, 23, Wednesday. He is being held on charges of involuntary manslaughter and mistreatment of a dependent adult.
