When Eyewitness News reporter Karl Man reports from the field, you never know what he will come back with.  That made his trip to Atwood Kansas that much more exciting.  Atwood is our third stop in our 'One of a Kind' road trip.  Karl has never been to Atwood, so his first priority was finding a unique place to sleep and a restaurant that captures the characters of the town.

"It's not a Hilton, but it will do," Mick Moore told Karl.  Moore ditched the hustle and bustle of Denver and moved to Atwood 11 years ago.  "Happiest 11 years of my life" he said.  He's happy to be part of the pride of the prairie and to run the It'll Do Motel.  Moore says he sees all sorts of people check in to his motel.  He says they are always met with a smile from the people of Atwood.  "It's a giant family," he said.

After finding a place to rest, Karl moved on to sample some of the local flavor.  "It's a nice small town, people are really friendly," a cook at River Bottoms.  It's a place keeping folks full while trying to pick up a 7-10 split.  "We are kind of on the edge of civilization and we like it," said the owner.

People around Atwood refer to their town as their little secret.  "This is the most freedom you can have in the country right here." It's a secret they're happy to share, to show Kansas they are 'One of a Kind'.
