(DODGE CITY, Kan.)—
The Dodge City school board approves the transfer of the city's civic center. The 50-year-old building will be used by the school district to handle activities and growing enrollment. District officials say they may need to build another school in the future, to the transfer could save taxpayers $10 million.
"We just think, with this change, while the use might be a little bit different then it has been in the past, this change is going to insure that the facility is used far into the future for the kids and patrons of this community," said Alan Cunningham, Dodge City superintendent.
The city officially hands over the keys to the civic center on Friday.
