(HAYS, Kan.)—A Hays man is taken into custody after a standoff Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3:30 Hays Police says they received a call that a man had threatened a family member with a rifle. Officers went to the man's apartment in the 400 block of W. 4th, but he refused to talk to him.
The Hays Special Situation Response Team and the KBI Response Team were called in. Officers evacuated part of the neighborhood while they tried to get the man to come out of his home. Hays Police say officer were "forced to physically take" the man into custody. The man was not hurt.
One officer got a cut on his hand during the incident. The man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.
