It started off with a boom. Representatives from the Kansas Cosmosphere were on hand at the Kansas State fair to give kids a taste of Dr. Goddard's Lab.
They demonstrated the power of rockets by giving an up close look at how they work.
Dr. Robert Goddard is considered to be the father of modern rocketry. All week long the Cosmosphere is giving kids an up close demonstration of his work in an effort to get kids interested in science.
"The more a kid can actually experience science for themselves, the more likely they are to actually become interested in it," Tom Holcomb, Kansas Cosmosphere said.
Parents seem to agree. Lynette Prasko's two boys loved the show
"The experiments and the real action they like; especially because they're boys," she said.
Holcomb says that interest can pay off in the long run.
"When you get into science, you can actually produce something," he said. "There's so much undiscovered that there's room for someone to make a name for themselves."
The Kansas Cosmosphere will demonstrate Dr. Goddard's lab at the fair three times a day through Sunday.
