New details about a man impersonating a police officer here in Kansas.
It's a story we first brought you last week.
Police believe they've identified a suspect.
Chief Gordon Fell of Belle Plaine Police says they believe Robert W. Helms has been impersonating police and cashing fradulent checks all over the state.
Helms is wanted and has a criminal history of forgery, theft and kidnapping.
Police have video of him passing the checks off at various businesses all over the state.
They estimate there are at least 25 cases pending.
They consider these crimes very serious.
"We're getting contact from our law enforcement friends from all over the state that appear to be victims of this same individual. He's presenting himself obviously as a law enforcement officer and he feels very comfortable in doing so," says Gordon Fell, Chief of Belle Plaine police.
In some instances Helms flahed a fake badge and disploayed a gun. Police consider him armed and dangerous and don't want anyone to confront him. Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
