The United Way kicked off its latest campaign Thursday. The goal for 2012 is to raise $15,600,000.  The goal is $500,000 more than last year.

Senator Jerry Moran was there for the announcement.  He says the United Way is vital for folks who need help.  "You can't wait on Washington D.C. to make life better. We can do it our communities each and every day and we change one person at a time.  And United Way is at the forefront of doing that," he said.

Organizers say this year's goal was determined by need in the community and what it believes donors are capable of giving.  The campaign runs through November 16.
