Volunteers serve hundreds of people during the YMCA's annual Thanksgiving dinner. It was the last dinner served in the old downtown YMCA.

"A lot of our volunteers, staff and members have an emotional connection to this Y. It may have its quirks, but it's been our home for a long time," YMCA Outreach Director and event coordinator Elizabeth Avelar said.

"We're thankful to have the space and wonderful sponsors and volunteers who help us provide free Thanksgiving meals for families year after year. We look forward to continuing the tradition in the new Y, but today will be a little bittersweet."

The YMCA planned to serve 2,000 people. However they served 2,500 which was a new record. Volunteers made turkey, stuffing and pies. They also gave away something a little extra, coats for those who needed them.
