A group of church volunteers serve up a free, Thanksgiving meal Thursday. Saint Paul's AME church opened their doors to patrons at noon. It was the first Thanksgiving meal they've served ever. 20 volunteers helped put the dinner on. They cooked up 80 pounds of sweet potatoes and green beans and smoked 8 turkeys.
"My heart goes out. They're looked over, they're left out. We consider them most of the time the least and the lost. Most people want a hand up, not a handout. That's what we're here to do, to give them a hand up- that's what we're here to do- we're here to help them to do that," said Pastor Steven Shepard.
The Saint Paul AME church serves up a free, hot meal every friday to those who need it.
