Premiering on May 21, 1992, "The Real World" was crazy -- a TV show with "real" people doing "real" things and who looked like people who lived on your street and talked like you talked. It could have been just a weird television experiment, but it became so much more: a genre. Twenty years later, we don¿t bat an eye when on any given day there's reality programming based on drug addicts, pawn shops, dancers, people who eat toilet paper, compete in jungles, answer trivia questions to prevent their cars from being impounded, and make duck calls. Our generation has grown up to believe that anybody can be on TV. And they probably will.
