(WICHITA, Kan.)—
As we celebrate the events centuries ago that lead to our freedom as a nation, I want to say a special thanks to Joseph Cornish.
No, you don't know him, and neither do I.
Joseph was my 6th great-grandfather.
He was a farmer near Groton, Connecticut and in 1777 enlisted in the Continental Army.
Injured in combat, Joseph died on August 24, 1777.
On Independence Day, we honor all the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States for the past 236 years.
Let's always remember their sacrifices that have lead to our freedom.
Have a great 4th!
Roger
